Gopal Prasad Rimal 

Gopal Prasad Rimal was famous as a progressive and revolutionary poet and writer in Nepali literature. A brief introduction to his biography is as follows:

 

  • He was born on June 18, 1975 in Lagantol, Kathmandu.
  • His first poem “Prati” was published in the monthly magazine “Sharada” in 1932.
  • He participated in the movement against the Rana rule by establishing a creative organization called Praja Panchayat.

He played an important role in the democratic movement of 1950-52 and served as General Secretary in the Federal Democratic Government. 

His poems, plays, stories, essays, criticism, autobiography, travelogues etc. have been created in various genres.

He is also known as a revolutionary poet as he broke the tradition of writing in verse and wrote poetry in prose.

 

He died on 8th Kartik 1973 at Mansarovar Hospital in Kathmandu.
